Artist's Statement
I seek to capture the essence of each person that I paint or draw. When I do paintings of people, I like to talk to the models to get to know their personalities. It helps me to convey that essence that I am seeking to express. While I do not want to produce a photographic reproduction of the person before me, I do want to capture the special something that I think that each person has.
As to my landscape paintings, I wish to capture the feeling that the colors and the interesting views give me so that the viewer can experience the beauty that I see. In my still life paintings, my style has evolved from realism to a looser interpretation of the objects.
While my medium of choice has been oil paint, I began to study watercolor in 2015. I have found that watercolor offers an exciting and very challenging way to express myself.
